We’re a month away from the opening of our fall science fair. This is our first science fair and our second competition. We had great participation in our short story writing contest in the spring. It’s not too early to get started on your experiment for this fall!
The science fair will be run in a similar format to the writing contest. Our guidelines can be found on the EP Competitions page which has a link to the science fair in particular. Submissions will be done by link. We’re going to try to keep things standard. I’m asking that you submit your project on Google Slides. (Give that Google Slides link a click. It’s my walk-through of the process and gives hints.) It’s all on the Science Fair page.
There is a $25 entrance fee and money awards will be given out to the winners.
Experiments take time. Don’t wait to the last minute. We’d appreciate entries coming in during October and not waiting until the last day to submit.
Entries will be received from October 15th through November 15th (EST). You will fill out your entry form when you are ready to submit your project. All of the science project links will be on display on the site. Our short stories got thousands of views.
While trying to keep all presentations standard with Google slides, we’d also like to ask that you do not include pictures of yourself (unless absolutely necessary for the data), nor include your name and age. The names of the winners will be posted on the site.
(PLEASE READ MY REPLY – Everyone can participate if they really want to, but I want quality submissions.) I wish the entry fee was lower. That’s $75 for my kids to participate and we won’t be able to. If it was like $5 more people would participate and more $ in the end maybe raised.
We’re not doing this to earn money. We are having an entrance fee to get quality, not quantity. The amount of entries got pretty overwhelming as it was for our last competition. The judges need to consider each entry and I need to be in contact with everyone. That all said, please note that they can work together! Make one entry. And, if you follow through on the links, you’ll see that if you really can’t pay it, we’ll help you out.
I totally agree! I’m the only one in my family that might have dine it, but I have literally no money.

Is there another way to do it if you don’t have a Google account? I entered in last year’s writing contest which was pretty easy since I already have a blog, but I don’t have Google.
If not, that’s fine and I could get an account.

We are trying to get it standardized at the judges’ recommendation. So, yes, please get an account if you can. You can use it just for this or use it as a junk account to give out when you don’t want to get on people’s mailing lists!
Will we get to see the Science Fair Projects as well? I would love to show my daughter and get her interested in maybe next year.
They will all be posted online during the competition and the winners’ projects will remain up all year.
im so happy that we are doing a science fair. I really want to join, but my parents have to think about it, and I’ll need an idea and the money.
Why is there even a fee?!?!?!?
There is a fee because we need a limited number of entries, because I want quality entries that people have invested in, because I pay the judges for their time, and because I hand out cash prizes!
Thank you for putting in the extra effort above and beyond what you already do offering this curriculum for free. We are excited to participate in something that we otherwise would have missed out on being a home school family 🙂

This is very exciting. I’m not sure if we will join you this year, as we are new to homeschool but hopefully next year 🙂
I am hoping I can convince my son who is brand new to homeschool and not entirely keen on the whole idea to join the Science Fair! If I tell him there are cash prizes, I’m hoping his interest will be piqued. He always loved Science and we literally just began using your curriculum today – so I’m hoping for the best!
