Solar Oven Rubric

  1. Question/Purpose
    • 4 points: The purpose of the lab or the question to be answered during the lab is clearly identified and stated.
    • 3 points: The purpose of the lab or the question to be answered during the lab is identified, but is stated in a somewhat unclear manner.
    • 2 points: The purpose of the lab or the question to be answered during the lab is partially identified, and is stated in a somewhat unclear manner.
    • 1 point: The purpose of the lab or the question to be answered during the lab is erroneous or irrelevant.
  2. Materials
    • 4 points: All materials and setup used in the experiment are clearly and accurately described.
    • 3 points: Almost all materials and the setups used in the experiment
      are clearly and accurately described.
    • 2 points: Most of the materials and the setup used in the experiment are
      accurately described.
    • 1 point: Many materials are described inaccurately OR are not described at all.
  3. Procedures
    • 4 points: Procedures are listed in clear steps.  Each step is numbered and is a
      complete sentence.
    • 3 points: Procedures are listed in a logical order, but steps are not numbered
      and/or are not in complete sentences.
    • 2 points:  Procedures are listed but are not in a logical order or are difficult to follow.
    • 1 point: Procedures do not accurately list the steps of the experiment.
  4. Data
    • 4 points: Two or more pictures of the solar oven depicting before and after pictures of how the item was heated in the solar oven.
    • 3 points: Picture of the solar oven.  At least one picture of the item before or after it was used in the solar oven.
    • 2 points: Picture of solar oven or item used in solar oven.
    • 1 point: No pictures of solar oven or item used in solar oven.
  5. Summary
    • 4 points: Summary describes the skills learned, the information learned and some future applications to real life situations.
    • 3 points: Summary describes the information learned and a possible application to a real life situation.
    • 2 points: Summary describes the information learned.
    • 1 point: No summary is written.
