Ephesians 1:1-14

My Observations

This seemed too much, so I focused on verses 3-12.

Repeated words/phrases:

According To: the good pleasure of His will, the riches of His grace, His good pleasure, the purpose of Him…, the counsel of His will

To the praise of His glory / to the praise of the glory of His grace

Predestined

ALL

In Him

Good pleasure

Blessed/blessing

Observations

Predestination:

predestined to adoption because that was what He desired

predestined to receive an inheritance because that’s was His will

chose us before the foundation of the world

Blessing:

Blessed be the Father and the Son

Jesus blesses us with every spiritual blessing

Abounding Grace:

EVERY spiritual blessing

ALL wisdom and prudence

Riches of His grace abound toward us

works ALL things according to the counsel of His will

by which we are accepted in the beloved

Inheritance “we HAVE obtained”:

blessed with every spiritual blessing

chosen

holy and without blame

adopted

accepted

redeemed

sins forgiven

wise and prudent by His grace

revealed to us the mystery of His will

will be gathered to Him

exist to the praise of His glory

IN HIM:

blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places IN Christ

chose us IN Him

without blame before Him IN love

accepted IN the Beloved

IN Him we have redemption

good pleasure purposed IN Himself

gather together in one all things IN Christ … IN Him

In Him we have obtained an inheritance

we who trusted IN Christ

It was overwhelming me, so below is really mostly based on verses 3-6.

My Interpretations

We have everything in Christ and it is all from Him and for Him. Our salvation was His choice and He is glorified for accomplishing it.

My Applications

What is God’s grace? What is the glory of His grace? Are you living to the praise of the glory of His grace? [Grace is everything. Grace is an unearned gift and everything we receive from God is unearned, undeserved. The glory of His grace is the wonder of the gift, the light that shines in our lives because of His gifts to us. Does His light, His glory, shine through our lives revealing the glory of the riches of the grace of God who freely gives us every blessing?

Where are you not living in the fullness of the blessing offered?
