Molarity and Colligative Properties
Fill in the blanks and then highlight the paragraph to reveal the answers.
A property that depends on the number of solute particles (concentration) is said to be a colligative property. The pressure of a vapor in equilibrium with its liquid is referred to as vapor pressure. It is a measure of the tendency of the molecules of a liquid to escape into the gaseous phase. The boiling point of a liquid is the temperature at which its vapor pressure is equal to atmospheric pressure. When a solid is dissolved in a liquid, the vapor pressure of the liquid is decreased because the surface area from which molecules can evaporate is reduced.
