I just read this article and thought it was good info on getting college money. Some things I had never heard before, and all were very practical. My daughter got into one of those elite schools on a full scholarship for merit, but I certainly don’t expect all my kids to be able to follow that route. This article is NOT about savings or investing or applying for tons of outside scholarships; it’s about pursuing what is offered by the schools you are accepted to.
Hi, love your site, thank you!
Question….. I will be homeschooling my twin 14-year-old girls high school and they will be attending a local college for early college credit. You say your daughter got a merit scholarship, would you be able to tell me how you prove merit to a university if you home school?
Thank you so much.
She knew what college she wanted to go to, so we just worked towards what they were looking for. She’s an artist, so she had to prepare a portfolio. Some look just at test scores. Some look at leadership experience. I suggest starting to look at possible colleges and see what they offer scholarships for. That said, those early college credits will give grades that show they can handle college-level work.
